Sangria & Navy Wedding in Drexel Hill, PA

LaTara & Corey sought out wood flowers for their sangria & navy wedding because they loved the idea of being able to always have their flowers. Their sola wood flowers will always be a physical reminder of the best day of their life. LaTara chose Heart & Sola Creations because she was looking for a local seller who was available to talk and work with, to bring her exact vision to life.

Wood flower bouquets & boutonnieres

One of the key requests was to color match the flowers to the sangria bridesmaid dresses from David’s Bridal. I got a swatch from David’s Bridal and dyed a good chunk of the flowers to match it. And let me just say, it was not an easy color to match – but I did it! All of the items: bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, the groom’s boutonniere, and 3 groomsmen boutonnieres, are made up of marigolds and twist roses. Sangria and navy are strong colors, so I balanced them out with ivory and blush pink flowers.

LaTara and Corey’s Engagement Story

Bride and groom kissing while cheers-ing with their champagne flutes.“Our birthdays are 2 days apart (July 22 & 24) and our dating anniversary happened to be on 7/25, so we decided to take a trip to Punta Cana in July of 2017 to celebrate both of our birthdays and our 3 year anniversary. Corey says he had no plans to propose that trip until he woke up the day before we were flying out and “just had a feeling” so he and his best friend drove to the jewelry store, picked out a ring, and made a plan to somehow hide it in the luggage. By the time we landed in Punta Cana the next day, we had been delayed several hours, and we were exhausted. We went out to the beach after checking in and it started to rain. I said we should go back in. He tried to get me to stay out until the rain passed because he had planned to propose on the beach, but I insisted. Back in the room, I went out on the balcony and he followed. He secretly set up his phone to record us and started to propose. I had no clue what was going on so I kept interrupting him! Eventually, I caught on, shut up and let him do his thing. He got down on one knee and it was completely perfect.”

How freaking sweet is that story?!

Customer Review

“Working with Katie was a breeze! She was able to create exactly what I wanted without issue. When she wasn’t sure what shade of purple I was asking for, all it took was a fabric swatch and she was able to match my bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly. The flowers were ready before the deadline and I was able to arrange a pickup to save on shipping costs. I’d definitely recommend Katie for anyone in the market for sola wood bouquets.”
