Sponsor a Flower 2022 Recap

In 2022, we sponsored THREE facilities – 330 Flowers!

Assisi House Riddle Village Brinton Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

I was completely blown away by everyone’s support of this project! Thank you all so very much – whether you sponsored flowers, shared the message, or even just followed along and liked my posts.

Let’s do it again!

Sponsor a Flower for 2023

What is Sponsor a Flower?

For $5 each, single-stem wood flowers were be created and delivered to multiple local facilities nursing homes, and assisted living facilities – for Valentine’s Day!

Flower colors were either ivory or dyed shades of red, pink, and purple.

For most of January, I was going back and forth, trying to decide if I should actually try to do Sponsor a Flower this year or not. While discussing this with a friend, she said that if I felt like there was something pushing me to do it, then I needed to try.

And there was something pushing me! That reason led me to…

The first facility Riddle Village in Media, PA

Many hear Riddle Village and think of a swanky/expensive retirement community, but there is also a healthcare side that includes things like personal care and rehabilitation! Those patients are the ones who received the sponsored flowers.

How does this connect with my why / what pushed me to do take on this project?

January 26th of this year was the 15th anniversary of losing my best friend, and first love, to suicide. He actually worked there, as a server, for quite some time. He absolutely adored working with the residents & he always had fantastic stories to relay to me after his shifts.

So, although I don’t personally know any of the residents at Riddle Village, and we provided flowers for a different section of the facility, I will always feel some kind of connection there.

Because the first facility got sponsored so quickly, I took on another one.

The second facility: Assisi House in Aston, PA

Assisi House is a multi-level care facility, which includes an Alzheimer’s and Dementia unit, specifically for the retired Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. It is located in Aston, Pennsylvania, across the street from Our Lady of Angels Convent, the congregation’s motherhouse.

When I started posting about Sponsor a Flower, the Activity Director from Assisi House reached out to get on the list of facilities, so it was a no-brainer that they’d be the second one!

We’ve been friends for years – we were both even in my brother’s wedding! – so, of course, I was happy to add them to the list.

Then, a third facility contacted me & asked if there was still time to get on the list!

The third facility: Brinton Manor in Glen Mills, PA

Brinton Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a nursing facility offering short-term rehab, and long-term & respite care.

I had contacted this facility early on, but hadn’t heard back. When they did contact me about joining the project, I was so incredibly happy to provide flowers for the patients here! Years ago, Pop – my dad’s dad who lived with us for most of my life – spent some time there, after he was hospitalized because of a particularly nasty fall. I was very excited for the opportunity to bring flowers – and, hopefully, smiles! – to the current residents there.

Unfortunately, sponsorships had slowed down quite a bit so I said that, depending on how the next 24hrs went, I would or wouldn’t be able to take on their 70 residents. After posting about a third facility asking to be included, a single person in my community came forward and sponsored all of 70 them!

Thank You Notes I received

A huge thank you, again, to everyone who participated in Sponsor a Flower 2022, in any way. I can’t wait to do it again next year!

Are you loving the idea of wood flowers? I would love to create something entirely unique for you!
