A Penn State wedding requires navy flowers! Combined with burgundy & ivory, this is a tradition palette mixed with modern wood flowers.
Wood flower wedding bouquets
I used one of the pocket squares the groom & groomsmen wore, to be sure the wood flowers were dyed to the perfect burgundy. With nothing to exactly match the navy to, I dyed it to coordinate nicely with the burgundy. Ivory and natural wood bark helped the bouquets from feeling too heavy, or pulling too much attention in photographs.

- Almond : Natural ivory
- Ranunculus : Burgundy
- Peony : Natural ivory
- Marigold : Navy
- Simple Rose : Burgundy
- Filler : Preserved boxwood & baby’s breath
- Handles : Fully-wrapped with ribbon
Courtney & Derek’s story is one of missed connections.
After attending the same small college (~800 people per graduating class) for four years, and having a a few mutual friends, they moved to and lived in the same town for 6 months. Years later, they both moved to new, neighboring towns near Penn State University…and after another few years, they met online!
They know of multiple times when they were in the same room, at the same party, and even on the same leadership team, but neither recall meeting.
Derek proposed December 1, 2017, and basically everything was planned by February 10, 2018.
When they visited their venue on December 17th, there was snow on the ground. Derek told Courtney not to get too excited, because there definitely wouldn’t be snow when they tied the knot mid-November. Two days before the wedding…it snowed. But it was cleared enough for their Saturday wedding, and it made a beautiful backdrop for pictures!
Customer Review
“Katie is a supremely talented floral designer! She has an eye for color and knows just how to bring the whole look together. She was communicative and easy to work with. I ordered a bridal bouquet and bouquets for my three bridesmaids. They are simply gorgeous! We even used the bouquets as part of the decoration for the sweetheart and memorial tables for the reception. Now that the wedding is over, I love that I have my bouquet as decoration in my living room so I can see it every day!”
